There are few characters that are needed for potential storylines, although no one character is any more important than another. I’ve asked the members and they’d love to have Ettie Brown and Friedrick Thiessen taken for plotting. Other than that, every open character has plenty of potential for plotting. Helena Isabel Dawson ☛ 22 ☛ Reveur ☛ FC: Jessie J ☛ OC
Helena grew up as part of a rather affluent family; her father was a wealthy businessman while her mother remained a socialite who was heavily dependent on her marriage. Helena had never wanted a life like her parents, she respected that they lived the way society expected them to and that they enjoyed it but she was not willing to settle for being dependent on others, she wanted to take her own path. Her younger sister, Elizabeth, was her parents perfect child, she wanted to marry and settle down as soon as possible, she had no ambition, no desire to break free from the confines of everyday life. In a way Helena envied her sister for her lack of dreams, life would have been so much easier for her if she’d been that way too. The only member of her family who truly supported her was her older brother James, he had taken over the family business after their father fell ill, it was far from what he ever wanted to do but he saw it as his duty and gave up his dreams of being a writer for the sake of the family. This is why he supports Helena so much, he sees the spark in her that he had before their father’s illness and he doesn’t want her to have to give up on her dreams like he did. In fact, it was James who got Helena her first audition as an actress, he had kick started her career and helped her escape the mundaneness of Victorian life and for that she’d always be grateful.
Helena did well as an actress, she performed in many well know plays and earned herself a good amount of money for what she did. Her vocal skills definitely made life as a performer much easier. She first saw the circus when it came to London back in 1895, she was already well into her acting career by this point. She was astounded by the skills of the circus performers; they inspired her to do more with her career than just playing the damsel in distress. After that night Helena decided that she wanted to enjoy herself a bit more, taking on burlesque events as well as the plays she normally did, this developed her comedic and vocal side, something she uses in everyday life as well as on stage. She began to follow the circus a year and a half after their first encounter and hopes to someday be a part of the circus itself, as a vocalist or perhaps even a dancer.
Though raised with money, Helena is rather down to earth; she understands that it takes work to get where you want to be and she admires those who do it. She can be rather sarcastic and very charming at times, often using her feminine whiles if necessary to move herself forwards. Saying that, she’s never let anything go too far and even though she is highly ambitious, she knows her limits and when to say no. Her time as an actress as helped build her confidence as a person, she can be very open and opinionated when not focusing properly; you either love her or hate her for it. She is a very sweet and kind girl to those who treat her well but if you are rude or malicious towards her then she will fight back and though generally polite due to her upbringing, if you annoy her then you will feel her wrath.
